A prayer to Sigyn

Hail Sigyn, sweet wife of Loki, unending in Your devotion during His pain. Your efforts to carry your mate’s pain inspires me, and encourages me to try harder out of love for my family. Your gentle touches in my mind show a compassion for suffering that bolsters me up when the everyday grind becomes too much.

Hail Sigyn, grieving mother, Your tears and sorrow for your sons reminds me to treasure every moment I am given with my daughters, to grip the memories of each day tightly in my heart, and to express my love to them at every opportunity. Your loss breaks my heart, and I wish I could ease Your pain, as I can only imagine the sense of loss at the death of your sons. My own tears are a pale companion to Yours, but I offer them as freely as You have offered Your comfort in my life.

Hail Sigyn, patient and self-sacrificing partner of Loki, the world breaker. Your decision to stay with Him as the venom painted His skin with pain inspires me to do anything for my family, regardless of how difficult it is for me. Visions of Your hands cupping the acid worn bowl fill my mind, with trails of reddened burns etching Your skin as the level rises steadily. Your ability to stay strong as the bowl is filled, and being able to empty it time and again, to return to Your vigil over Your husband fills me with awe at the depth of Your love for Him. Knowing each time You left to dump the poison would have Loki writhing in agony, gibbering in madness as the torture ate away at His flesh and mind. You standing guard as He was driven insane by the acidic pain gnawing on His skin is a testament to Your hidden core of tempered bravery, knowing that His mind began to twist and fracture into the madness that could consume everything. Staying by His side despite this, through every moment of His pain, shows me the strength of the love between both of You, the devotion of a wife Whose husband needs Her to be strong for both of Them.

Hail Sigyn, thank you for your sacrifices and compassion. Your example helps me stretch myself into a better, stronger mother and wife.

About darkbookworm13

I am a proud mom to 3 beautiful girls, and married to the love of my life. I have been a practicing Witch since the summer of 2003, having studied many different paths over the years, ranging from Wicca, Goddess only worship (courtesy of StarHawk), Eclectic Paganism, Kitchen Witchcraft, Norse Paganism, Hearthcraft, Spiritual Luciferianism, and more. I have worked with the Futhark runes, Brian Froud's Faeries Oracle deck, Tarot decks, and I am currently working on a customized divination set based on collected items. I like to work with herbs, and gardening. I crochet and make handicrafts like wood burned items, paintings, drawings, toys, and hand sewn doll clothes for my daughters. The only title I call my spiritual path is Witchcraft, as using magic entwines deeply with the worship of the Gods who call me Their own. My Patron deity is Loki, who has chosen me as His kin.
