A closer look at the broken pieces show some signs that perhaps the creator didn’t glue things together as they should have. The glue is peeling out of the metal frame in thin, discolored (a greyish yellow that looks sort of like filthy fingernail clippings), slightly flexible chunks that are hiding a weird greenish residue along the edge underneath. My camera can’t get a clear look at the inner edges of the metal frame, but the green is pretty bright, almost an Irish green or something.
I have had this pendant for almost 3 years, but only wore it on and off right after I received it because my 2nd daughter would cuddle me against my neck, and get scratches from the leaf along her forehead. I set it aside for at least 6-7 months total, and only wore it every day for about 7 months (since I started this blog), so the wear and tear hasn’t been too bad. My youngest does chew on my necklaces, but I have tried discouraging it by offering toys, blocks, or other items (since she had a tooth come through I didn’t want her to hurt herself with my pendants).
This is an attempt at getting a picture of the peeling adhesive.
another attempt, but our camera is being difficult.
